Gulf Fritillary Larvae (Agraulis vanillae) (Caterpillar)

CENTRAL FLORIDA CRITTER OF THE DAY: Gulf Fritillary Larvae (Agraulis vanillae) (Caterpillar)

I was pleasantly surprised to see this caterpillar in January but we have been having unusually high temperatures of close to 80 in recent days so the adults are still flying.

Shown on larval host: PURPLE PASSIONFLOWER (Passiflora incarnata), a vine native to Florida.
