Rainbow Scarab Beetle (Phanaeus vindex)

CENTRAL FLORIDA CRITTER OF THE DAY: Rainbow Scarab Beetle (Phanaeus vindex)

aka Dung Beetle. Was flipped on its back on the patio. Eventually righted itself, posed for a few photos and then took flight.

This one was a bit dull on the color front compared to others I’ve seen.

  1. Interesting Loret! The only dung beetles I’ve seen are very black – nothing fancy like yours!!! Love his antennae tips!
