Groundselbush Beetle (Trirhabda bacharidis)

CENTRAL FLORIDA CRITTER OF THE DAY: Groundselbush Beetle (Trirhabda bacharidis)

Larval Host: Baccharis halimifolia

Larvae and adults feed exclusively on leaves of Baccharis, acting as a biocontrol.

The coloring of the adult does not reflect the beauty of the iridescent larvae which is an important host for some species of wasps.
